comet was one of the first to use the zero keel pocket sysrems after they pioneered the original up comet the now traditional way of building a hanglider ..when the variable billow devise became popular so the cross bars could be pulled tight the glider gained more performance at the expense of turning ability ,,now with the zero keel pocket it is even harder if the v/b is attatched ..so now we fly very small gliders to turn ..but side slip is a problem and you tube testerfies to pilots in very bad unrecoverable side slips ..a top keel fin or keel fin helps but performance opn modern gliders is suspect compaired to the original ballance control of the up original comet ..skeatesy ..

I learned on a duck a long time ago. Landing this kite was easy, as long as you had a smooth 10 mph headwind. Anything else, you better have wheels. I replaced the down tubes many times. I still have Two Ducks, one is for parts. I would love to donate them to a Air Museum. The Air Museum I wanted to contact in Charlotte NC had closed. Please let me know I if you have any information or suggestions. Thanks!

I got a 16m, actually when i brought it, it was a standard 162, but i converted to power, or a 16m. Basically the same glider, except it has a removable stinger, stronger uprights and thicker side wires, parts came from Aeros. I use a Doodlebug with it, but i do free flight it as well, where i've had several interesting flights. Including soaring a hedge at 450 ft on finals, and another on a thermic day, when it wouldn't come down. Easy to assemble, easy to fly, what's not to like .

I brought a Calypso, shortly after gaining ep back in 2003. A good dependable glider , it looked after me when i was green, and low houred. Most of my launches were winch, and i suffered several launch failures over hundreds of launches. During one such event,on realising something was wrong, i dumped the tow. The glider immediately dropped it's nose to recover speed, turning as it did. I landed back at launch as if nothing had happened, all in front of a new student , who didn't even realise something had gone wrong.
The incident, oh a lockout, a wing stalled during climb out, thanks to a thermal rocking though. A turn developed toward the stalled wing that i couldn't correct, so i dumped the tow. The reason for the turn during recovery was due to a very slight bend in the right leading edge tube, found during it's first check. I still own this glider, and it's still airworthy. Actually it's just completed it's annual check, ready for next year, alongside my Target.

Been Flying this glider for 2 years. I transitioned from a Falcon 170. I use a 165, and I can't say better things about this glider. Super responsive, very soarable. The flare window might take a bit getting used to but just flare at neutral bar pressure and you should be fine. I've outflown paragliders on the regular with this kite. I have two!
