Aeros recommend to STOP FLYING all Aeros Combat hang gliders manufactured between 2011 and 2013, the reason is two in-flight crossbeam accidents on latest Combat for structural failure.

All gliders can fly after the mandatory check test #016.
Great overall performance, easy to take off and land due to the movable hang-point,that allows a minimal flight speed of 29-31 km/h.

Full Carbon elliptic leading edges for 13.5 and 14.2 GT reduce glider's weight to 31 kg!!!

Easy to take off, great in thermals, fantastic glide in calm conditions.

And the negative:

-it comes with a large number of safety bulletins, just like every wing from AEROS
-extremely sensitive to turbulence, it cannot be flown straight if there is thermal activity in the air, so that fantastic glide is not coming to any use as the wing is mostly flying zig-zag
-weighs a lot (I have the 2009 model)
-AEROS unable to send correct reserve parts no matter what
-AEROS unable to reply more than one question per e-mail when sent through official dealer
-AEROS unable to reply at all when e-mail sent by private person
-requires regurlar and frequent flying if you want to be able to make the wing go (more or less) where you want it to

I flew the Combat regularly for almost 4 years, free-flying but also mosquito FLPHG. If the landing was done in anything other than nill-wind conditions the wing became hard to control and landing it the direction you wanted to would become a battle between pilot and glider. Landing with the slightest sidewind would cause one wing to turn with no chance to bring it back to horizontal.

I replaced the Combat with a Wills Wing T2C and I am the happiest man alive.

I have even flown the Airborne C4 a few hours and found it to be also very pleasant and simple, much in the same class as the T2C (but weighs around 4 kg more).

In case there is somebody still wondering: Don't spend you money on a Combat, all other contemporary topless wings out there are better. And come without any safety bulletins.

High aspect ratio means you must load it,to get the best handling and performance, otherwise you'll be carried around and you'll end up flying a boring T2c...

Load it? You mean always fly at maximum hook-in weight? So the suggested hook-in weights in the manual are meaningless? The proper way to fly is to always hook-in at 115kg?

Not sure what you mean with your comment, I don't think you know what you ment either. In any case you must have missed thar part where I write that I replaced the Combat with a T2 and I am the happiest man alive.

Yes,thank God there are t2cs for intermediate pilots. Have fun.

That would be a very happy intermidiate pilot in my case.

By the way, I have a great Combat-09 for sale, mint condition, no hard landings. Flies like a dream if you load it. Intrested?

Hi jorgos. interested in your combat give me your email so we can talk about price etc. Many thanks paul.

I note with interest the comments about the Aeros Combat L glider and the Aeros Safety Bulletins. As an Aero Engineer by profession, I am inclined to think that only Aeros (since they came from the aviation industy) have any idea what a Safety Bulletin is, and why to put one out. I doubt that any other HG manufacturer could evaluate safety issues the way that Aeros do, and write a decent Bulletin, that is why you don't see them, not because Aeros Gliders are more unsafe.

I do not at all agree with Jorgos and I do believe that Tim cooper has a valid point in regard to the safety bulletins. To me, Aeros stands out as a reliable and professional manufacture with high focus on safety. Every time a potential defect is discovered on an Aeros glider I get a notice by the dealer, giving me the opportunity to check my glider for the same defects. Or in other words; they are giving me the opportunity to survive. Do any of the other manufacturers provide the same service? Are their wings more or less perfect?

I have flown both Combat 2 and Combat 09 for many years and are currently considering buying a Combat GT for next season. For being a high-end, high-performance glider I find it easy to fly. Easy take off, easy thermaling, easy landing, yaw-steady at high velocities and glides incredibly well. I must agree that the glider can be a bitch in strong turbulence, but that is a minor price that you pay for all the other excellent qualities. However, if you buy the GT version the turbulence issues are now history

Aeros is a NIGHTMARE from a customer service standpoint.
I love the design of the combat but have now had 5 qc issues with aeros gliders including aeros trikes wings and hang gliders. Took them 5x and almost 5 months to send me the correct part for my combat.
I am done. Cool designs. But I am done. Have owned Discus, Comat, and Profi had QC issues with combat and prrofi. Was nightmare to get parts for both. Done.
Willswing is better option. T2C great service. No qc issues in all 5 WW gliders I have owned.
