I owned a large Hiway spectrum from 1978 thru 1981 and logged over 1000 hours airtime. Easy to handle although it had a reputation for tip-stalling.
I think I paid less than 500 pounds for it. What a bargain.

the Hiway Spectrum was my first hang glider, back in 1979; it was good and easy. I had no comparison, at that time, but I found it safe enough to survive those hang gliding pioneer times... ahah

I had a small Spectrum about 1980-83. It tip stalled then spun due to me flying too slowly during turn when changing from seated to prone. I crashed into a ploughed field; not badly injured but gave up flying shortly after.
