Good docile floater. I stated flying it after my flights at the training hill. I have a sonic 190VG and it is a very good floater. A 190 is difficult to thermal and would recommend a 165 instead for pilots in the appropriate weight range. My hook in weight is 200LBS and I found Ridge soaring to be easier that thermal soaring.Landing is a breeze, she comes down very easy and slow.Overall a very good buy, well built, robust and has given me some fantastic flights!

I have the 165 Sonic and it is a fantastic glider for the new student who wants a glider that they can grow into.

Very easy to launch even in strong winds, landing is easy as well and is very stable in the air. You can even throw it around a bit as your hours increase and confidence grows. Very well built and will last many years with normal maintance.

Known for being an excellent dune/ridge soaring wing and "first double surface" glider. Very similar to a Pulse but some models add a VG system.

Fresh our of pilot training i didn't want to buy a Fun and chose a 165 Sonic instead as my first glider.
It's grouse! Still only have a couple of hours but it is every bit as easy to fly as the fun in my opinion. Also because the wing loading is less (I learnt in a Fun190) it is much easier to handle in bumpy air.
It is a lot faster when you pull the bar in and glides further on approach to landing but I'm having a ball so far.
I love my Sonic.

Bought a Sonic 190 VG while doing my course, been flying it for 18 months along with a Sting and Combat. It's great for the light lift days and easy to take off and land, maximises air time. Good safe first glider for the heavier pilot with a strong frame though the sail quality is a little average.
As far as performance goes, it's in the middle between a Fun and a Sting.

I recently purchased a sonic 165 with around 50h the glider is to replace my sting 1 154 while I'm not a sky god I have a bit of experience. I notice the role rate is slightly slower but this may be due to the size. Flair is extra forgiving and landings are a breeze.
